Tentative Itinerary

**Depart US July 12

Day 1: July 14
• Arrive in Colombo and transfer to your hotel in Negombo. 5 kms from Colombo’s airport, Negombo grew from an historic little fishing village into Sri Lanka’s first beach resort and gourmet capital
• Relax and unwind at the beach after a long day of travel
• Overnight at Blue Oceanic Hotel Negombo

Day 2: July 15
• Drive down the west coast to Moratuwa and visit the Livelihood Center
• Continue down the Coast to Galle
• Overnight at Jetwing Lighthouse

Day 3: July 16
• Transfer to Tissahamara and visit the Yodakandiya Community Complex
• Overnight at Tissamaharama Resort, Tissamaharama

Day 4 : July 17
• After an early breakfast, depart for a jeep safari into Yala National Park. Inside the park you will come across wild boar, deer, leopards, elephants, bears, peacocks, flamingoes and many more animals roaming freely
• Return to hotel, afternoon at leisure
• In the evening attend a traditional BBQ
• Overnight at Tissamaharama Resort, Tissamaharama

Day 5: July 18
• Transfer up the east coast of Sri Lanka to Pottuvil, where several projects funded by Architecture for Humanity were erected after the 2004 tsunami
• After site visit transfer to Nuwara Eliya. The scenery is breathtaking as you drive on mountainous roads amidst tea gardens and cascading waterfalls
• Visit a working tea factory en route and watch the process of complete tea making
• Overnight at Ramboda Falls Hotel

Day 6: July 19
• After early morning breakfast we will drive to Kandy. Kandy is the cultural center of Sri Lanka and was the capital of the last Singhalese kingdom.
• We will visit the focal point of the town -- the golden-roofed Dalada Maligawa where the sacred tooth of the Lord Buddha is enshrined and also called “Temple of the Tooth”
• Drive back to Colombo area
• Overnight at Ranweli Eco-Resort

Day 7: July 20
• Transfer to the airport to connect to your departure flight home

Food, Expenses, Misc.:

Breakfast will be included but lunch and dinner will be eaten at restaurants and pensions and will be paid for by guests. Many of the lodges provide laundry capabilities, phone and internet access. Tips will be expected by the drivers, guides and staff at accommodations.


All guests should plan to arrive in Colombo on July 14. When you arrive you will be escorted by a private driver to the Blue Oceanic Hotel in Negombo, 5kms from Colombo’s airport. It is a beach resort so you will be able relax and sleep after a long journey. All guests will convene at the hotel to begin the trip down the coast on July 15, en route Tissamaharama.


Transportation will be arranged for you for the duration of the stay through a private coach and driver service.
