You will be put up at the “Maison” in Pétionville, Port-au-Prince. The Maison is three levels–a common floor including living, dining and kitchen spaces, a lower floor for partners/tenants and an upper floor for Architecture for Humanity team members. Each floor has a bathroom with a shower. The Maison provides: wifi Internet; office space with access to a printer; bathrooms with showers; breakfast and coffee service; 24-hour security. The Maison is comfortable, but visitors are asked to be mindful of its post-disaster context.

Food, Expenses, Misc.:

Meals are prepared by Maison staff. We have potable water available in the upstairs kitchen. Showers are cold water, and water pressure is infrequent. There are no washing machines, therefore, you may do your own laundry or you may give it to the house. Also–don’t forget to bring twin sized sheets, and a towel.

Port-au-Prince has one major airport, Toussaint Louverture International, on the north side of town. There are regular flights to several US cities. The airport is 14km from the Maison. A trip usually takes 90 minutes one-way. You will be picked up by a dedicated Architecture for Humanity vehicle at the passenger-loading zone on the Southern flank of the airport and spirited to the Maison. When arriving at the airport please do not leave the gated area, do not pull out cash, and do not let more than one person handle your luggage if you need help.

Transportation will be arranged for you for the duration of the stay. Architecture for Humanity has a four-wheel-drive SUV and driver to shuttle team members around and beyond Port-au-Prince. There is a taxi service in Port-au-Prince in the event of unforeseen situations.
