We will be hosting the next traveling installment of Design Open Mic on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 4-5 pm at Dwell on Design in Los Angeles, California and we're on the hunt for presenters. Those humanitarian designers, both emerging and established, who are chosen will have the exciting opportunity to take the stage and share their ideas to a design-centric audience.
Design Open Mic is an engaging interactive series that showcases sequential seven-minute presentations over the course of one hour. Presenters share their innovative designs in person through visual materials and spoken word. Architecture for Humanity is soliciting submissions and will choose only the top ten most ground-breaking projects. Out of those ten finalists, seven will have the opportunity to present. The first off-site Design Open Mic took place at the Center for Architecture in New York City last fall as part of Design Like You Give a Damn: LIVE!
The topic for Dwell on Design Open Mic in Los Angeles will be "Regeneration." We feel this topic is timely in light of the natural disasters that have occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand and northeast Japan. Architecture for Humanity does not place limitations on presentations beyond adherence to the chosen topic, as we hope to inspire designers' creative juices.
If you are available to present in person at the Los Angeles Convention Center at Dwell on Design on Saturday, June 25 between 4-5 pm, you must first sign-up here. From the sign-up page you will be linked to the Open Architecture Network submission page where you can submit your visual materials. The deadline to submit a presentation for consideration is May 25.
Finalists will be contacted by June 3 and notified that they will have the opportunity to take the stage on June 25.
Note: Architecture for Humanity and Dwell will NOT sponsor travel and accommodations. Presenters and an accompanying guest will be able to attend Dwell on Design free of charge.
